New Haven lies on the main train line between Washington DC and Boston.
All Amtrak trains stop here (including the Acela Express).
New Haven is also the endpoint for one branch of Metro North, the commuter train from New York (these trains leave hourly from Grand Central Station, and while they take slightly longer than Amtrak, are cheap and reliable). New Haven is also on the Amtrak lines that run from Montreal down through Vermont and Massachusetts, and from upstate New York.
Once you get to Union Station in New Haven (a map of the city, as a PDF file, can be downloaded here), the Omni Hotel is a short taxi ride (there are several taxi companies that you can use: Metro Taxi 203-777-7777; New Haven Taxi 203-877-0000; Quick Taxi 203-777-7778; Yellow Cab 203-777-5555) or a 20 minute walk.
By bus
The Peter Pan (800-343-9999) and Greyhound (800-231-2222) bus lines also use the New Haven train station. For people coming from upstate New York or New England, the bus might be a convenient option.
