Bradley International Airport
Bradley international airport (BDL) is located in Windsor Locks, CT, about 52 miles from the Omni hotel. This medium-sized regional airport is well-served by several major airlines as well as Southwest and other low-cost airlines. There are nonstop flights to BDL from Amsterdam via Northwest Airlines (yes, in the Netherlands!).
To help bring down the cost of using Bradley, the EHA will provide free transportation from the airport to the hotel at 10 PM on Thursday evening (two buses, each with 10-passenger capacity) and on Friday morning (one coach bus, with 47-passenger capacity) departing at 10.30 am. The busses will be operated by Connecticut Limo. Using a courtesy telephone, you should check in with ground transportation information personnel who will indicate the location of the bus, which will have an EHA sign attached to it.
On Sunday afternoon the EHA will run four 10-passenger buses from the hotel to Bradley, departing at 12 (two buses), 12.30 (one bus) and 1 pm (one bus). The busses will leave from in front of the hotel.
The ride should take about an hour in either direction. To use this service, book your flight first, then contact the , attaching your itinerary to your email message. Seating is limited and seats will be confirmed on a first come first served basis. Please note that if your luggage is lost or your flight delayed, we cannot hold the bus for you, nor can the EHA be responsible for arranging or paying for alternative means of transportation.
In addition, the EHA will provide 20 discounted round trip tickets between Bradley and the Omni, at $45 each, which will enable the traveler to use Connecticut Limo's regularly scheduled shuttle service. This includes the fee to be dropped directly at the Omni hotel. To take advantage of this subsidy, book your flight first, then contact the Meetings Coordinator, attaching your itinerary to your email message. Tickets will be given out on a first come first served basis. If they are gone by the time you book your flight, you can of course utilize the shuttle service at the regular price listed by Connecticut Limos (see above link).
Car rental at Bradley is inexpensive, especially on weekends. The airport is served by several car rental companies. Directions to and from the airport can be found here.
The Omni has a parking garage under the hotel, which costs $18 per day.
Parking that might be less expensive can be found in city-owned garages nearby.
Scheduled bus services take more than two hours to get to New Haven is thus not recommended, and taxi service is expensive (unless several people share the ride)
Newark Airport
Newark Airport (EWR) is on the same Amtrak line as New Haven (see the details on rail travel above). The direct train connection is easy to use and convenient. Newark has non-stop flights to the West Coast and to Europe, and attendees who use this airport can just take the train from the airport.
Information on the AirTrain (that connects the different parts of the airport) can be found here. Train schedules, including Amtrak, can be found here. The train trip takes about 2 hours.
If you wish to rent a car (but note that you would have to drive around New York City, in possibly heavy traffic), several companies are available. Driving directions from and to the airport can be found here.
New Haven Tweed airport
New Haven Tweed airport (HVN) is a small airport in the city that handles regional jets. Right now only USAir serves HVN, and all connections are via Philadelphia. A cab ride to the airport from HVN is about $15 (Metro Taxi 203-777-7777 or Yellow Cab 203-777-5555). Connecticut Transit buses pick up passengers at the airport for $2–$3 (203 624-0151 or www.cttransit.com), although they do not have stops very close to the hotel. Avis and Hertz have rental car offices at the airport. Just call: 203-466-8833 and select option 3 from the menu, and then select the rental car company of your choice: either attendees should bear in mind that fares to HVN can be expensive, and service is infrequent, so a canceled flight can cause disruption. The EHA will attempt to help with transportation from HVN on a case-to-case basis, but cannot guarantee it.
Laguardia International Airport
LaGuardia international airport (LGA) is one of the three New York area airports. Service with a major carrier might be less expensive than BDL, but airport congestion at LGA can be severe, and traffic problems make it even less attractive. There are no non-stop flights to LGA from the West Coast or from Europe.
When planning your flights from the New York area airports, please remember to reserve plenty of time for travel to and from the airport in question! Both the Bradley and Newark airports offer more convenient transportation options to New Haven.
The EHA will provide 25 discounted return tickets from and to either LGA or JFK, at $75 each, which will enable the traveler to use Connecticut Limo's regularly scheduled shuttle service. This includes the fee to be dropped directly at the Omni hotel. To take advantage of this subsidy book your flight first, then contact the Meetings Coordinator, attaching your itinerary to your email message. Tickets will be given out on a first come first served basis. If they are gone by the time you book your flight, you can of course utilize the shuttle service at the regular price listed by Connecticut Limos (see above link).
Car rental options can be found here. Directions to and from the airport can be found, for example, here.
The Omni has a parking garage under the hotel, which costs $18 per day.
Parking that might be less expensive can be found in city-owned garages nearby.
John F. Kennedy International Airport
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) has non-stop flights to the West Coast and to Europe. But it lies at the end of the 8-mile-long, congested Van Wyck Expressway. Attendees who use JFK might experience long delays on the road; at a minimum it is a two-hour trip.

Providence airport (PVD) is 98 miles from New Haven – farther than the New York airports. On the other hand, flights to PVD can be inexpensive.
